Altar Servers

The parish welcomes boys and girls who are interested in becoming altar servers at Mass and in the major ceremonies at Christmas and Easter.

The Parish Choir

Music is an important element of many religious ceremonies, and the long-established Parish Choir, and our organists, have a very good reputation, earned on foot of continuing endeavour.

Our Collectors

In addition to carrying out the Sunday Mass collections, which must be efficient and unobtrusive, our collectors undertake the considerable task of collecting parish contributions on a house-by-house basis weekly.

Ministry of the Eucharist

Many parishioners act as Ministers of the Eucharist at Mass.  This ministry is extended in many cases to the bringing of the Eucharist to house-bound or indisposed parishioners.

Presentation of Gifts at the Offertory

Parishioners make the presentation of the Offertory Gifts at Sunday and Holyday Mass and on the occasion of Funerals and Weddings

Reading of the Scriptures

Individual parishioners, drawn from a team of readers, read the Scriptures at all Masses in the church, making for a heightened sense of community.

Catholic Literature

Book cases are located on either side of the church just inside the main door.  They display a range of Catholic publications and periodicals, which are on sale and are individually priced.  In addition, there is a good selection of Catholic newspapers and magazines.

Mass Cards

For the convenience of our parishioners, the book cases in the church also contain Mass Cards (both for the deceased and the living) which are on sale.

Special Groups

The BAPTISMAL PREPARATION TEAM are members of our parish community who assist in the preparation of Baptism.  They make home visits to the parents of children to be baptised to explain the ceremony, they assist at the baptismal meeting in the church, and are present on the day of the baptism.

The BETHANY BEREAVEMENT GROUP offers much appreciated assistance to bereaved individuals and families. The group members are in attendance in the Parish Centre every Monday from 8-9 p.m. and every Friday from 2-3 p.m. (by appointment).

The FAMILY MASS GROUP undertakes the arrangements for the holding of the family Mass on the second and last Sunday of the month at which choral singing by family members of all ages is a major element. New members are always welcome to join.

The LEGION OF MARY PRESIDIUM meets each Monday evening at 8.30 p.m. in the Parish Centre.  The legion promotes prayer for peace and is involved in visitation to housebound parishioners. For more information on the work of the Legion log-on to http://www.legionofmary.org/

The PARISH LITURGY GROUP reviews and helps to implement practical changes or additions to the Liturgy.

The ST. JOSEPH’S YOUNG PRIEST’S SOCIETY meet in the Parish Centre on the second Monday of each month after the 10 a.m. Mass.  Their primary concern is to pray for vocations and to support vocations both spiritually and materially.

The ST. VINCENT DE PAUL SOCIETY meet every Tuesday evening in the Parish centre at 7.30 pm.  To find out more about the work of the society log-on to http://www.svp.ie

Flower Arrangements

This is another voluntary activity which contributes very significantly to the religious services.

Church Cleaning

Three teams of volunteers, operating in turn once every three weeks, carry out the cleaning of the church.  Normally, an hour is spent on this task at 10.30 on Monday mornings, with “all-team” participation on special occasions.

We would like to emphasise that in all the activities described, whether by individuals or by groups, participation is on a voluntary basis and is therefore open to all.  All our community are welcome to join groups or teams or to participate in activities which may interest them.  New members or volunteers are always welcome, and anyone interested may simply leave their name(s) at the sacristy or with one of the priests of the parish.

Thank you in anticipation!
