What do I do if I, or a loved one belonging to me is diagnosed with a life threatening illness? The priests of the parish wish to offer every possible support to you or your loved one who is ill. If informed early, the priest can arrange to call, and will return as often as is possible to journey with the person who is ill, insofar as the they would like. The Sacraments of Holy Communion, Confession and Anointing of the sick are a wonderful source of grace and healing, which should not be left only until a person is critically ill Back to Top
How do I become an altar server? Altar servers play an important role in assisting the priest during the celebration of Holy Mass, and add so much to the ceremony. The parish always welcome new altar servers, boys and girls who have entered 4th class in primary school. Training of new servers takes place in the church, and all diocesan child protection guidelines are followed. If you want to become an altar server please give your name in at the sacristy Back to Top
When should special Offerings be made to the Church? What are the amounts of such offerings? This is a fairly complex issue, but one which is very relevant, and which is topical for many parishioners. It should be made absolutely clear, first of all, that the Church, as a body, does not make any charge whatsoever for any religious ceremonies which may take place at the request of parishioners (or anybody else). Familiar examples are Masses said for specific intentions, or Baptisms of new members of the Church. However, as some ceremonies are held at times outside the normal church schedule, and thus may involve an increase in running costs - principally lighting and heating - it has become customary for those requesting the special ceremonies to make an offering to defray such extra expenditure. Also, many parishioners are anxious to make such offerings, which are always appreciated greatly by the parish. Partly because of the danger of misleading conclusions being drawn, and partly because the circumstances of individual parishioners will differ, there is no question of the parish issuing specific recommendations on such offerings. To do so would be most inappropriate. Instead, our parishioners are invited to discuss the matter if they wish on a personal and private basis with the priest whom they are consulting in regard to the ceremony they require. The priest will advise but the decision will, rightly, rest with the parishioner.
